« 28 July 22:41 » HI I WILL BE OUT THURSDAY MAYBE FOCKRIW IF INTERESTED JOHN ABOUT 12 OCLOCK IF WEATHER IS GOOD
« 27 July 17:34 » Hi I was wondering if anyone had plans for thursday, looking like merther or fockriw, possibly nanty. I have to pick one day this week and was wondering if anyone was around to fly with? Cheers, john.

« 23 July 21:15 » I dont know if you know but Richard Harding (mostly an Avon pilot but he has lived in Lanngwidyr for the last year or so) had a nasty bike accident. He is in Neville Hall and has had severe injuries, spleen removed, ruptured aorta, puctured lung, broken legs that we know of. He is in Neville Hall but is in no condition to be visited. Follow on Facebook.
« 20 July 21:39 » Hi rich thanks for that i hadent seen that.will add it to my favourites. did you know you can get a sounding for any location not just the ones in the list. you have to click on the press for skew t pop up button then hold down shift and click on your location wait a few seconds and it will apear .here is one for talybont http://rasp.inn.leedsmet.ac.uk/cgi-bin/ ... &time=1230
« 19 July 19:28 » Hi Steve, I agree the last one is really good - I haave strated doing the same thing myself - i.e taking aphoo of the clouds and then matching it with the Skew T for Talgarth, to show what weather a given sounding will produce. Haven't got very far with it though. PS - have you seen the Tlgart Gliding Club live weather page ( http://www.blackmountainsgliding.co.uk/weather-live.php ) once you calibrate for its location ( winspeed is always low compared with our t/os ) I find it more useful than Wendy, given the variety of info it gives.
« 18 July 19:09 » anyone interested in a week in annecy next may with a bunch of 8 other pilots? with a guide and taking turns to retrieve over the week. james price is trying to set up a group for next may. he wrote this....May 2011 Annecy Paragliding trip. XC guiding/adviser, accomadation and retrieval. Looking for another 8 to join. Non profit making with a top local guide/adviser. Roughly 450-500 for 7 days with some change for a kitty. Totally transparent with costs. No Politics just good flying with mates. Let me know if your interested? Defo over estimated so there's no short comings before the trip.
« 18 July 17:36 » Hi jeremy I thought you would like it, I know you are a fan of RASP.of course there is much more too itand you can do loads more things, but i think that it is a good introduction and hopefully will get people into using rasp more. here are some more in depth links http://glidemet.co.uk/?p=655 http://s214580749.websitehome.co.uk/tut ... ds-01.html this last one is particularly good about the soundings with photos of the what the sky would look like for a given sounding . http://www.soaringmeteo.ch/raspsounding.pdf
« 18 July 09:09 » Thanks Steve; I've watched it 3 times so far ........ think I'll keep a record of this one.
« 16 July 18:44 » if you use RASP then you must see this web cast from judith mole, its like a little lecture on how to use it and get the best from it. http://www.judithmole.net/webcasts/rasp.html
« 15 July 19:11 » 'St. Swithin's day if thou dost rain For forty days it will remain St. Swithin's day if thou be fair For forty days 'twill rain nae mair.'good job I dont belive in old wives tales

See how easy it is to learn to fly a modern hang glider or paraglider (delta ou parapente en français) at a British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (BHPA) registered school.

Read how experienced hang glider and paraglider pilots can today use their wings to climb up to 4 miles (6.4 Km) high, and cover distances in excess of 300 miles (482 Km), with no power save the movement of the atmosphere.

Check out the flying sites of South East Wales, some of the best hang gliding and paragliding sites in Wales and the UK.

When you‘ve been flying your hang glider or paraglider for a while, and gained the necessary experience, you may wish to consider adding an engine to your wing.

Most UK hang gliding and paragliding schools have experience of powered hang gliders (PHG) or powered paragliders (PPG or paramotors), and can help you gain the additional flying skills required, and advice on the most appropriate kit to purchase.

The South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club has 19 flying sites.

Eight of these are "Open" and can be flown by any suitably qualified and insured hang glider or paraglider pilot, the remainder are "Members Only".

Visiting pilots are welcome on any of our "Open" sites provided they meet the minimum rating requirement for that site and carry adequate third party insurance. UK pilots must be members of the BHPA.
