Conditions of Club Membership

In applying for or renewing membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd I agree to be bound by the following Conditions of Club Membership.

1. I confirm that I am 18 or more years old.
2. I confirm that I understand that the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club (the Club) is a Company limited by guarantee, and that any profit the Company makes is retained on deposit or applied to the work of the Company, and not distributed by way of dividend or bonus amongst the members of the Company.
3. I confirm that I understand that every member of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd undertakes to contribute to the assets of the Company in the event of the Company being wound up while a member or within one year after ceasing to be member, for payment of the debts and liabilities of the Company contracted before ceasing to be a member, and for payment of the costs, charges and expenses of winding up, and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves, and I agree to contribute such amount as may be required not exceeding the sum of one pound stirling.
4. I confirm that I am in good health, and am aware that Hang Gliding, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Powered Hang Gliding, Speed flying and Speed gliding are risk sports.
5. I acknowledge that all actions I undertake in pursuit of Hang Gliding, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Powered Hang Gliding, Speed flying and Speed gliding shall be entirely at my own risk, and I waive any claim against any member, Director, Officer or Official of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or their agents for any loss I may suffer as a direct or indirect result of my involvment or participation in these activities.
6. I agree to inspect before use all items of equipment I use in pursuit of Hang Gliding, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Powered Hang Gliding, Speed flying and Speed gliding, including but not limited to any equipment belonging to, or otherwise provided by the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd. I confirm that I take full responsibility for ensuring that all equipment I use in pursuit of Hang Gliding, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Powered Hang Gliding, Speed flying and Speed gliding is airworthy, and that I am suitably qualified, experienced and insured to safely operate such equipment, and I waive any claim against any member, Director, Officer or Official of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or their agents for any loss I may suffer should my inspection or experience prove inadequate.
7. I acknowledge that I can only provide coaching on SE Wales sites if I have "e;ticked"e; the "e;Active SE Wales Club Coach"e; box on my membership application or renewal form, and thus confirmed that I hold a BHPA coaching licence and grant the Club permission to publish my name, ratings, email address, and the first part of my postcode (eg CF64) in the SE Wales Sites Guide, and on this web site. I also acknowledge that any coaching I provide on SE Wales sites must be in accordance with the coaching guide lines laid down in the BHPA Technical Manual.
8. I agree to indemnify the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd and its Directors and Officers and agents against any claim for damages loss or injury caused by, or arising from, or consequent upon any act or omission on my part at any time during my membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd.
9. I confirm that I am a current member of the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA), and confirm that I will keep my BHPA membership current during my membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd.
10. I confirm that my BHPA membership includes third party liability insurance cover, and that to the best of my knowledge that cover is adequate for the actions I intend to undertake whilst a member of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd, in pursuit of Hang Gliding, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Powered Hang Gliding, Speed flying and Speed gliding.
11. I confirm that to the best of my knowledge, my agreement to these terms and conditions does not nullify any insurance cover I may possess.
12. I grant permission for the personal details disclosed in my application for membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or my application for renewal of my membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd to be held in computer and server databases and in printed records, by the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or their agents Cymnet and PND Services for the purposes of maintaining membership records and mailing lists, and for any other purpose incidental or conducive to the work of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd.
13. I confirm that I understand that the personal details disclosed in my application for membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or my application for renewal of my membership of the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd can be viewed and amended via the internet by logging into the on-line Club membership database using my membership password, Club membership number, and BHPA membership number.
14. I confirm that I will never share my membership password, and agree to take all reasonable precautions to keep my membership password, Club membership number and BHPA membership number secure at all times.
15. I acknowledge that if I pay my membership fee by credit or debit card, the transaction will be handled by Paypal, an independent third party, and that it will therefore be necessary for the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd and their agents, Cymnet and PND Services, to pass personal details disclosed during my membership application or renewal to Paypal to enable them to successfully process my transaction.
16. I acknowledge that my credit or debit card details are never held, processed or transmitted by the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd or their agents, Cymnet and PND Services, and confirm that I will not hold Cymnet and PND Services and the South East Wales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club Ltd and its Directors and Officers responsible for any breach of security connected with the payment of membership fees through the Paypal system and server, or for any loss directly or indirectly incurred through use of any Paypal service.
