SE Wales Sites History
It‘s easy to forget just how much time and effort has gone into negotiating access to SE Wales flying sites over the years. It‘s also all too easy to assume that once access has been agreed, that‘s it, no further work is required.Nothing could be further from the truth. Land owners change, legislation changes, issues continue to arise with local residents, graziers, and other countryside users. Maintaining flying site access through establishing good working relationships with all the relevant parties, and finding a way through the issues and problems that still arise, is just as vital and time consuming today, as it ever was.
The following articles will I hope provide some insight into the work that continues to go on behind the scenes, and also provide a flavour of just how time consuming and frustrating site negotiations can be at times.
In SE Wales we are very fortunate to have some of the best and most accessible flying sites in the UK. But this is only because, throughout the history of the Club, dedicated volunteers have been willing to give up their free time to undertake the necessary difficult and complex access negotiations.
A site once lost can be very hard to regain. So please play your part by observing site rules at all times, and acting as a true ambassador for our sport.
